Significant moments in music video history

24th December 1900 - Invention of the gramophone.

1933 - Choreography involved within movies e.g. West Side Story.

1940 - The Disney film 'Fantasia' came out, was the first musical film.

1952 - Musical films were introduced.

1960 - Elvis Presley was introduced, singer/ dancer.

1972 - Music artists adapting a persona , a prime example of this would be David Bowie with multiple different personas.

1981 - The first ever TV station to show music videos on their channel, MTV.

1983 - Michael Jackson made the first ever mini- movie for his song, 'thriller' .

2005 - The introduction of Youtube, a site where you can stream music videos anywhere.

2014 - Beyonce introduced a full album with music videos for each of the songs. The music videos all told a story and was seen as a movie. She also did this with her another album 'Lemonade' in which she made an entire movie at the end with the music included.

Hey Guys, I have created a mood board for our music video for the song "Tennis Court" by Lorde. The main colour scheme we will be using throughout all our products will be black and white, and this can be highlighted above on the mood board. With our genre being electro-pop/indie rock, there is a lot in which we need to work with. Normally, electro pop videos feature a wide range of colours with bold clothing and the overall feeling of happiness, compared to the indie rock genre in which, in the majority of videos contain dark colours and simple clothing. As a group, we decided that for our song choice we will more than likely challenge the typical conventions of a electro-pop music video, which would make our music video more suitable to the song as it is very slow paced and quite a sad song. This is the first preview of our website. We thought that the black, white and grey theme would be perfect for 'DAKOTA'. We ca me up with a concept for the website and album to tie in together with the artist. Below is the homepage created which involves the name of the artist 'DAKOTA' along with links to social media and contact details. I personally liked this simple layout as it then meant the first seen page wasn't over crowded and springing information on the viewer straight away. As you scroll down the page, you find more information on the artist, along with further contact details and merchandise. As you can see from looking below, there's still work to do, but will hopefully be finished soon!

Another way we are connecting with the public is through Facebook. Facebook has enabled us to add tour dates, information about the artist and pictures which people may find interesting.  Possibly the biggest shift in music that has come through social media has been through an increased level of interaction between musicians and their fans.   Before artists began embracing social media, music labels carried a huge majority of the power when it came to what music made it into the hands of consumers.Now, the ability to present your music to a wide range of fans is attainable through Facebook and other social platforms. Social media puts an artist's in power when it comes to getting the word out about their live shows, album releases, or merchandise for sale. With the rise of the internet, however, the artist now has a much broader range of tools at their disposal for selling and distributing various types of merchandise.
