Copyright Email for Video

Image
Hey Guys!  Well, today me and my group have decided to email the manager of Lorde, just to email him regarding the fact we are using the artist's music for our media. We hope from this email we gain permission from the manager, to use the song "Tennis Court" for our music video. We also made sure that we did this due to  The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Which is a law which gives creators of literary, dramatic, musical, artistic works, sound recordings, broadcasts films and typographical arrangement of published editions rights to control the ways their material is allowed to be used. Due to our awareness of this act, we have attempted to contact the artist of the song we're doing. Here is the email that we sent:

UPDATE: Song Choice

Image
Hey Guys, Now we have decided, it is time to reveal. The song we have decided to remake is "Tennis Court" by Lorde. Personally, I think this will be a much easier video to make and will be less time consuming then what "Take A Walk" was going to be for us. I am not worried about the amount of time we have left to create our music video, however, this has opened my eyes to what it could be like within the music industry when creating music videos, and sometimes how long they can take to produce to make them perfect. Take a listen of 'Tennis Court':

Tennis Court - Lorde (Initial Ideas)

UPDATE

Hiya Guys, Today we had to make a hard decision on whether we should keep the idea of 'Take A Walk' by Passion Pit, or completely change it to a different song. After some careful consideration, we decided that it would be best to leave this idea behind. After putting all our thoughts together on what we could do for this video, we eventually ran out. I'm thankful that this has happened in the stages of planning as if it didn't we might not have been able to change our song. We had been putting all our effort into creating a storyboard for 'Take A Walk', however, it just wasn't working and we finally came to a stand still, with no ideas to contribute. Currently, we are deciding on what song we could do instead, and I will shortly get back to you in the upcoming days.

Mood Board

Image
Hey Guys, I have created a mood board for our music video for the song "Tennis Court" by Lorde. The main colour scheme we will be using throughout all our products will be black and white, and this can be highlighted above on the mood board. With our genre being electro-pop/indie rock, there is a lot in which we need to work with. Normally, electro pop videos feature a wide range of colours with bold clothing and the overall feeling of happiness, compared to the indie rock genre in which, in the majority of videos contain dark colours and simple clothing. As a group, we decided that for our song choice we will more than likely challenge the typical conventions of a electro-pop music video, which would make our music video more suitable to the song as it is very slow paced and quite a sad song. We will be using dark clothing, dark lighting, dark make-up and a variety of emotions, especially sadness. Therefore, our video will portray dark aspects and a mono-tonal feel, how...

Lighting Ideas for our Music Video

Image
Hey guys,  So recently me and my team have been discussing what we can include in the music video. We particularly want to make sure that the lighting is the best it can be. I have been watching different music videos for inspiration on how to include the lighting in our music video and I think 'street spirit' by Radiohead or 'No Harm' by Editors is a perfect example of how we would like the lighting techniques to turn out. Both of these videos use excellent lighting, and it has great significance to the music video. We are hoping to create something similar to these two music videos, in terms of lighting.
